Dave Agnew

Dave is an experienced communications and engagement professional, and is enthusiastic about making Parliament more accessible and engaging to everyone. He has a keen interest in equitable policy development, environmental justice, and sustainable urbanism.

With a Bachelor of Arts with Honours from the University of Auckland as well as a GradDip in Publishing from Whitireia, Dave has spent much of his career in the public service with the past four spent at the New Zealand Parliament’s Office of the Clerk. During this time he held various roles including Deputy Clerk of the Environment select committee and an editor of Hansard, the official record of parliamentary debate. Over his time in publishing, Dave gained experience as a freelance publicist, editor, and typesetter, and co-ran Little Hook Press, a speculative fiction micro-press.

Growing up in Tāmaki Makaurau | Auckland, Dave moved to Te Whanganui-a-Tara | Wellington in 2017, and has been very happily living in Te Awa Kairangi | Lower Hutt since 2019.
